Automation Technician

Job Brief:

The Automation Technician is responsible for implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining all automation equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provides onsite technical knowledge and support for construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, and diagnostics on various automation equipment including Emerson ROC, TOTALFLOW, SCADA Pack, SCADA Cloud, Control Logix, Allen-Bradley, Bristol Babcock, factory talk, HMI, etc.
• Develops Programmable Logic Control (PLC) designs for a variety of control applications.
• Integrates SCADA software with control systems.
• Performs root cause analysis and troubleshoots.
• Maintains, debugs, installs, and uninstalls control and measurement systems, instrumentation, and electrical devices and equipment.
• Prepares reporting for process improvements and technical documentation, i.e., operation and training manuals.
• Logs equipment usage, parts replacement, and schedules maintenance.
• Monitors logs, runs scans, and performs updates and testing of new and old applications.
• Identifies and provides guidance on suitable automation control devices or programming; Assists with the planning and execution of automation projects.
• Participation/compliance with company safety programs & company policies.
• Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

• Degree or diploma from an accredited post secondary institution in electrical engineering, robotic technician, industrial automation, and/or industrial controls is required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot.
• Ability to interpret drawings and schematics.

• Standard First Aid/CPR w/ AED, OSHA 30, and Safeland, with preference for OSHA500.
