Executive Director, Blue Cares

Job Summary

The Blue Cares Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership, growth, and management of the organization. The Executive Director preserves and fosters the growth of existing relationships within the community. The Executive Director leads the programs of Blue Cares and develops new business relationships. The Executive Director identifies and secures relationships with key community partners, benefactors, and supporters within the community. The Executive Director is responsible for showcasing, highlighting and enhancing the outreach functions of the San Antonio Police Officers’ Association through Blue Cares.

Responsibilities and Duties

Leads, manages and oversees the daily operations and business activities to ensure workflow is consistent with the Vision, Mission and Values of Blue Cares’ overall strategy. Recruits, retains, develops, and synergizes the organization's staff and volunteers. Cultivates a strong and transparent working relationship with the Board of Directors, advisors, consultants, partnering organizations, donors, community leaders, and volunteers. Conceptualizes, develops, and implements short – term and long – term organizational goals. Directs executive and legislative advocacy advancements on behalf of Blue Cares constituents, benefactors and other stakeholders. Develops and implements effective decision – making processes that timely deliver expectations. Serves as the lead spokesperson, expert, and advocate for Blue Cares’ community initiatives. Fosters and develops relationships and collaborative efforts with our community, groups, organizations and donors/benefactors for the purpose of enriching awareness, creating support, and inspiring and expanding the Blue Cares brand. Conceptualizes, organizes, leads, directs, and provides oversight of all fundraising, grant projects, and donor support efforts. Responsible for providing oversight, development, implementation, and expansion of program related functions. Directs and executes research and development of public and private grant proposals, contracts, and inter-agency agreements. Transparently manages Blue Cares assets. Efficiently coordinates project management with multiple stakeholders. Conveys the organization’s messaging through professional public speaking and media engagements.

Qualifications and Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university, preferably in business administration, business management, human resources, public relations, non-profit management or related field.

• Must possess a valid Texas drivers’ license.

• Must maintain and possess proof of current state-mandated automobile liability insurance.

• Must successfully pass a background investigation.

• Must pass a drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.

• 5 years of work experience in Non-profit management, project management or public relations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Comprehensive knowledge of budget preparation, not for profit finance, personnel administration, donation allocation, and corporate management

• Comprehensive knowledge of project management and personnel administration organizational theories, principles, practices and techniques

• Must have proven track record of fundraising and development in the community

• Must possess superior written and interpersonal communication skills

• Bi-lingual a plus
