JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Summary/Objective - Coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments in accordance with the production schedule. Duties include reviewing current & future demand, establish production schedule for mixing, forming & packing based on customer demand and shipping schedules, track & compile reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

Essential Functions

·         Creates master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping date according to sales forecasts or customer orders.

  • Analyses production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
  • Plans and schedules workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.

·         Distribute weekly production schedules and work orders to departments.

·         Review of materials or supplies necessary to meet production demands and work with purchasing if needed.

·         Confer with department supervisors or other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.

·         Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with management, marketing, sales, production, or engineering.

·         Confer with establishment personnel, vendors, or customers to coordinate production or shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.

·         Examine documents, materials, or products and monitor work processes to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.

·         Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, materials used, or customer information, so that status reports can be completed.

·         All employees have the responsibility to report food safety problems to their Manager or someone with authority to initiate action.

·         All employees shall identify any risk of intentional harm to the facility, personnel or products.  All employees have the responsibility to report unauthorized persons to their Manager who will challenge the individual and/or escort them from the site.

Competencies

1.       Must bring interpersonal and communication (written and oral in English) skills required to interact with various levels of plant personnel.

2.       Expert on business intelligence tools, MS office, ERP, data management.

3.       Knowledge on lean manufacturing process improvement.

4.       Must be detail-oriented, organized, and possess ability to multi-task.

5.       Good team player.

6.       Ability to prioritize and meet production scheduling goals within specified time constraints.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises planning personnel.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to food scents, some food allergens, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. 

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 

The employee is required climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee may lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours and days of work varied depending on shift and production demands.

 

Travel

Less than 10%

 

Required Education and Experience

College degree required for this position with previous experience in supply chain and/or production planning in a manufacturing facility. 

 

Preferred Education and Experience

Food manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
