Dock Hand

INTRODUCTION TO ROLE

Each dock hand is responsible for opening duties/daily prep, ground clean up, general property maintenance, and all aspects of the rental boat fleet. The dock hand position requires a willingness and ability to assist with any task needed at Bait & Tackle. The dock hand will work closely with Bait & Tackle staff to provide our guests with outstanding boating experience. This position specifically engages with guests, assisting them on the docks, in and out of rental boats as well as explaining the rules & regulations that go along with boat rentals.

Engaging personality, someone who is comfortable speaking with guests from all different backgrounds. Has attention to detail and communicates effectively and timely.

The Dock Hand position requires a willingness and ability to assist with any task needed at Bait & Tackle.

• Provide Marina members with the best experience possible
• Greet all customers in a manner that expresses a kind, courteous and professional manner
• Help orient members and guests to the marina and facilities and answer other commonly asked questions
• Assist customers with general boating needs such as Ice delivery and dock line handling.
• Maintain and cleaned restrooms, docks, walkways, grounds, and other areas designated by management.
• Ensure docks and equipment are operational at all times
• Comply with OSHA regulations environmental regulations, and adhere to all site rules and expectations
• Availability to work overtime when required
• Ability to work weekends and holidays
• Other duties as assigned by Manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow our Marina Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
• Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets, and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
• Report all accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately.
• Must be a good swimmer!

As the Dock Hand, you specifically engage with guests, assisting them on the docks, in and out of rental boats as well as explaining the rules & regulations that go along with boat rentals. You will work with the Bait & Tackle staff.

• Min 16 years of age with a valid driver's license!
• Boating experience is a must!
• A boating or captain license is preferred!
• Must be a good swimmer!
• Completed Marina Safety course(s)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Working in slippery dock conditions
• Ability to see clearly, listen, write, and verbally communicate
• Moving fast, standing, bending, and squatting, continuously
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
  
  

The hospitality environment is fast-paced, and at times you may be required to cover or assist with tasks/job functions outside of the job you were hired for.
