Mechanical Exchange Technician I

Primary Purpose and Function:
The primary purpose of this position is to evaluate and repair defective units in a timely manner and maintain adequate inventory while meeting the needs of our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and identify incoming units
- Disassemble and failure analysis/diagnosis
- Clean, inspect and prep units for repair
- Assist technicians as required
- Install and Remove units from the simulator
- Shop floor/Inventory control
- Maintain organized, clean and safe work area (5S)
- Work collaboratively with other departments
- Assist technicians as required
- High school diploma, vocational certificate or equivalent experience (1-3 yrs. mechanical experience)
- Strong mechanical ability, average mathematical ability and basic electrical skills
- Ability to interpret mechanical assembly and parts drawings
- Proficient use of electrical and mechanical devices such as, precision measuring equipment, multimeters, etc.
- Strong attention to detail and capable of solving product technical problems
- Must work well independently as well as on a team
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
Preferred:
- Ability to operate forklift and crane
- Basic operation of manual machine shop equipment (lathe, grinder etc.)
- Machine maintenance or previous mechanical assembly/rebuilding experience
- Experience with Bill of Material (BOM) research
