Job Summary

The Senior Technology Engineer – Hydrogenation will play a key role in managing Axens hydrogenation technologies and catalysts with geographic limitations to ROC Americas. They will provide technical expertise for Axens hydrogenation technologies in support of the ROC Americas Commercial Team while positively promoting technology in public settings.

Job Duties/Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technology counterparts within Axens to ensure technology engineering tools and processes in Americas ROC represent the latest and most updated versions available.
  • Develop and maintain internal design standards consistent with the most updated tools and processes within Axens.
  • Develop, present and ensure follow-up of technical projections for replacement of existing and supply of new catalysts.
  • Develop, present and ensure follow-up of technical proposals and studies in support of evaluation by clients of Axens technologies and integrated solutions, for grass root and revamp projects.
  • Support development of commercial proposals for Axens Americas ROC Catalyst & Absorbent business and Process Licensing business.
  • Responsible for the development of the expert basis during the execution of awarded projects as well as responsible for the catalyst and process performance guarantees, as well as guiding engineering team and participating in client meetings throughout project execution.
  • Develop and manage improvement concepts to drive technology development positioning for successful award of future licenses, including collaborating with the global technology development and improvement teams, as needed.
  • Provide after sales technical service to Axens clients with the following objectives:
    1. Ensuring safe and successful commission new units, including development and review of startup/shutdown procedures, and supervision in the field
    2. Monitoring clients units and catalysts performances, support clients in optimizing their operations, troubleshooting, through remote work as well as regular visits and meetings at clients’ sites
    3. Build long term relationships with clients while showcasing Axens’ expertise.
    4. Promote Axens Connect’In remote monitoring solution
  • Provide training to Axens Americas ROC team members from all business units, as needed.
  • Promote technology with external parties and present technology advantages in various meeting formats, from large industry conferences to smaller one-on-one settings.
  • Advise and assist other Technology Engineers, as needed.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering required.
  • MS or PhD. in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering a plus.

Work Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in the petrochemical and/or refining industry with demonstrated experience with hydrogenation technologies required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience required on operational support for hydrogenation units; experience in commissioning/startup/shutdown activities preferred.
  • Expertise in chemical engineering fundamentals including reaction engineering, catalyst and general chemistry required.
  • Experience with PRO/II simulation software and Excel-based modelling tools required.
  • Experience in basic process design, project engineering and economics preferred.
  • Experience giving technical presentations to large audiences with strong technical expertise preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.
  • Anticipating and adopting innovations in business-building digital and technology applications.
