SUMMARY

We are seeking an to join our team. In this role, you will support, coordinate, and provide technical engineering expertise for a variety of processes, automation hardware systems, software applications, and plant equipment and systems. The Operations Engineer is responsible for maintaining plant production, operating efficiency, regulatory compliance, and safety. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience with pumps, motors, hydraulics, electrical control systems, etc. with a proficiency in monitoring and operating plant control systems. This key role monitors and operates process control equipment, including valving, engineering, and other indicators. This is a hands-on role where a willingness to learn and a commitment to safety culture will be vital.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other functions may be assigned.

  • Oversees plant operations according to required safety measures.
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting, recovery, debugging, repairs, and routine and non-routine maintenance of laboratory equipment, hardware, and systems.
  • Perform live troubleshooting, recovery, debugging, repairs, and equipment and systems maintenance to keep assets in good working order.
  • Maintains record of readings for all compressors and processing equipment and ensures optimal level of production.
  • Proficiently monitors and troubleshoots operating equipment and processes and has the ability to train others.
  • Ensures the plant adheres to safety and environmental rules.
  • Programs and operates the facility’s system that operates the machinery, starts up the plant, shuts it down, and runs the production of material.
  • Identifies process deviations and perform root cause/corrective action.
  • Conducts inspections of all key process points to identify any abnormalities and makes any necessary machinery and/or equipment adjustments and implements proper response, including notifying management.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records in accordance with all safety, quality, regulatory and production requirements, such as plant readings, plant maintenance, instrument calibrations, etc.
  • Observes gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Manages all boilers and associate auxiliary equipment and maintains plant operations.
  • Maintains boiler operations safely and manages all power consumption.
  • Maintains safety and environmental records to ensure the safety of employees and compliance with federal, state, and company policies and regulations.
  • Manages all plant operation and emission data and maintain safety and efficiency.
  • Documents work by completing paperwork on each shift and maintaining files.
  • Turns in all required paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
  • Recognize equipment or systems operating outside of normal ranges.
  • Communicates all pertinent information throughout assigned shift.
  • Collaborates with contractors and vendors on all assigned activities as required.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a Technical/Trade School and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
  • Previous experience working in a heavy industrial or plant environment such as boiler operations or incineration facility.
  • Exhibit outstanding verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and established equipment troubleshooting abilities.
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting experience is required.
  • General working knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience in mechanical repairs (electrical) and electrical trouble shooting.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Hydraulic experience a plus.
  • Proven ability to work well with others, self-motivated, work with little or no supervision, multitask and prioritize daily.

Physical demands associated with this position include the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds regularly and the ability to stand for periods of up to 3 hours. Additionally, this position requires work in confined spaces and the ability to climb and work in elevated locations. Candidates must be able to work in all locations within the plant, under extremes of hot and cold, and in areas of dust, noise and wet conditions. This is an essential position and the flexibility to work weekends and/or holidays is required.
