The Project Engineer at ABM Technology Group is a dynamic role that involves overseeing the technical and engineering facets of assigned projects. This professional ensures the precision, resource allocation, and quality of all technical tasks from inception to completion.
As a member of the professional services team, the Project Engineer contributes to the delivery of successful projects for a diverse clientele, from small businesses to large enterprises. Collaborating with fellow engineers, project managers, and assistants, this role demands adaptability to a fast-paced environment and a proactive approach to project management.
Duties Include
· Project Management: Lead multiple IT projects, ensuring they progress efficiently without daily supervision.
· Technical Implementation: Oversee a variety of technology-focused projects, such as deploying Office 365 Exchange Online, server replacements, and software upgrades.
· Client Relations: Deliver projects on time and within budget, maintaining client satisfaction.
· Teamwork: Engage actively as a member of the IT team, adhering to ABM Technology Group’s standards and processes.
· System Configuration: Set up Windows Servers, Active Directory, Exchange, O365 tenants, Azure servers, and Azure AADS, including troubleshooting and enhancements.
· Policy Management: Develop Microsoft Intune policies and utilize PowerShell for project efficiency and accuracy.
· Server Management: Establish physical server hosts with SAN devices, ensuring redundancy and performance.
· Technical Troubleshooting: Resolve DNS issues, network connectivity problems, and complete Office 365 migrations.
· Network Setup: Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices to establish a secure and efficient network environment for clients. Primarily focusing on Sonicwall, Cisco, HP, Meraki, and Unifi brands
· Server Deployment: Set up and configure servers, both physical and virtual, ensuring optimal performance and resource allocation.
· Software Installation: Install and configure software applications based on client needs, including operating systems, productivity tools, and specialized software.
· Data Migration: Transfer client data from their previous systems to the MSP's infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
· Cloud Services Integration: Set up cloud-based services such as email, storage, and collaboration tools, and ensure proper integration with existing systems.
· Endpoint Security: Deploy and manage security software, antivirus, anti-malware, and intrusion detection tools across client devices.
· Backup Solutions: Implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard client data and enable rapid data restoration in case of emergencies.
· Remote Access: Configure remote access solutions, such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) or Remote Desktop Services, to enable secure remote work capabilities.
· User Account Management: Create and manage user accounts, permissions, and access rights for various systems and applications.
· Technical Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for client environments, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
· Client Training: Offer training and guidance to client employees on using MSP-provided tools, applications, and security best practices.
Operational Duties:
· Project Ownership: Drive projects from discovery to completion, including occasional travel to client sites.
· Support: Address escalations from the Service Desk and assist in after-hours on-call duties.
· Customer Service: Provide exceptional service and contribute to project planning and implementation.
· Documentation: Maintain accurate records of project tasks and actively seek opportunities for technical improvement.
Qualifications:
· Experience: 3+ years at a Managed Service Provider.
· Skills: Strong customer service, administrative experience, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
· Attributes: Integrity, honesty, team-oriented, highly organized, and detail-focused.
· Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of networking, operating systems, cloud platforms, virtualization, and software applications relevant to managed IT services.
· Communication Skills: Strong ability to interact with clients, understand their needs, and effectively convey technical information.
· Problem-Solving: Exceptional troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve technical issues during client onboarding.
· Security Awareness: Understanding of cybersecurity best practices to implement necessary security measures for client systems.
· Team Collaboration: Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and ensure a smooth transition from onboarding to ongoing support.
· Adaptability: Capacity to quickly learn new technologies and adjust to varying client needs and environments.
· Documentation Skills: Attention to detail when documenting configurations, processes, and client interactions.
· Continuing Education: Willingness to stay updated on industry trends and certifications to enhance skills and knowledge.
