The Title I Reading Teacher will be responsible for improving the Reading skills of underperforming students in grades 1-4 or 5-8 and supporting the goal of high Reading achievement for all students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze standardized test data to identify student needs in Reading
  • Based on identified needs, plan Reading/ELA lessons that address identified student needs and support classroom instruction.
  • Provide small-group instruction using lessons that address identified student needs and support classroom instruction
  • May be asked to assist /co-teach Reading with classroom and/or other teachers
  • Assist Head of School with inventory, scheduling, and distribution of Reading testing
  • Meet with classroom and/or reading teachers to plan for and discuss students
  • Attend Response to Intervention meetings for relevant grade levels
  • Additional duties as required

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Reading or like area preferred
  • Reading certification required, SEI endorsed or become SEI endorsed by the end of the first year
  • 3 years’ experience preferred
  • Strong commitment to education reform initiatives, particularly raising educational equity for low-income and linguistic minority students
  • Proven ability to communicate well with adults and children
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a positive team member
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Commitment to the specific mission and goals of LFDCS
  • Experience developing programs to serve the needs of students with underperforming Reading skills
  • Experience developing programs for urban students of Hispanic backgrounds preferred
  • Experience with Learning Management tools and other technology programs
