Roles & Responsibilities:

• Beverage Formulation: Assist in beverage development activities and contribute to the formulation of recipes and processes throughout the product cycle. This includes formulating carbonated soft drinks, still iced teas, juice drinks, and combination Juice & Tea.
• Quality Testing: Perform various quality tests including TA, Brix, RI, Density, refractive index, and color testing using a spectrophotometer. Ensure accuracy and consistency in testing procedures.
• Ingredient Knowledge: Have a good understanding of ingredient solubility and potential interactions, including colors, flavors, vitamins, minerals, teas, sweeteners, and acids.
• Lab Operations: Demonstrate proficiency in laboratory operations, including accurate weighing, sample labeling, equipment calibration (titrino, refractometer, pH meters), and adherence to lab safety protocols.
• Documentation: Maintain proper lab documentation and records, including sample labels, lab request sheets, and testing metrics. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and company protocols.
• Customer Specifications: Formulate beverages according to customer specifications regarding color, flavor, mouthfeel, and appropriate levels of actives.
• Quality Control: Set specifications for premixes and bases created for the Quality Control department. Ensure adherence to quality standards and product consistency.
• Continuous Improvement: Understand various ways to extend product shelf life and select processing parameters for different beverage systems, such as pasteurization and preservatives. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Compliance: Implement Company Certified programs such as HACCP, NSF, SQF, Food Defense, and Food Safety and Quality programs as required.
• Additional Support: Provide support for other product development activities and duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Food Science preferred

Experience: One (1) to five (5) years of related job experience is required. Beverage experience is a plus.

Skills:

• • Proficiency in lab safety and proper lab documentation.
  • Excellent math skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel for data analysis and formulation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take directions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
