What is the purpose of this Job?

The Commercial Overhead Door and Gate Technician will service and install overhead garage doors and gates with a focus on quality, safety, and the ability to provide excellent customer service. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial garage doors and related systems. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently. We provide work year-round, a truck, and all the support needed to excel in this position. Leads are booked by our Call Center for customers who have a real need to replace, service, install, or repair their gates, overhead doors, and openers. You are dispatched to solve Customer’s problems and take care of their needs and wants with our great products, training, and warranties. You will also assist the General Manager in achieving financial targets, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining operational efficiency.

Job Description

• Install, repair, and upkeep commercial doors, gates, operators, rolling steel doors, access control systems and related systems.
• Perform routine inspections to verify the optimal functionality of commercial garage door systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with garage door systems, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Communicate efficiently with customers and team members to ensure satisfaction and on-time project completion.
• Attend and actively participate in mandatory safety meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain a suitable level of product knowledge for the offered product range.
• Ensure all scheduled work is completed to customer satisfaction and promptly address any issues or concerns.
• Prepare the truck for operation by ensuring it is fueled, serviced, and ready at the beginning of each workday.
• Daily restocking of the truck with appropriate service materials.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks when required.
• Maintain accurate timecards through the company's payroll software for precise record-keeping of worked hours.
• Undertake various secondary support tasks as requested by the General Manager.
• Conduct safety checks and adhere to safety protocols to sustain a secure working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance tasks.
• Complete service reports and communicate job details to relevant stakeholders.
• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to ensure seamless communication and customer satisfaction.
• Provide technical input during project planning and estimation.

Qualifications –

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by overhead garage door experience, preferably in sales, installations, and repairs.
• Strong knowledge of commercial garage door systems and equipment.
• Strong mechanical and technical skills and ability to work with power tools.
• Experience in welding, torching, fabrication, electrical troubleshooting, and low-voltage wiring.
• Demonstrated sales experience closing deals directly with customers, preferably in the garage door industry.
• Excellent Customer Service Skills
• Honesty and dependability -willingness and ability to show up for work!
• Must possess a current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass a standard drug test.
• Must be able to pass a background check.
• Must have a neat appearance.

Physical Requirements –

Depending on the functional area of the assignment, tasks involve the ability to medium to heavy work. As a technician, you must be able to lift to 100 lbs. and carry up to 50ft. Physical efforts usually involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of weight (up to 100 pounds.) Jobs may involve some climbing (ladders), balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, or standing. Tasks may involve extended periods of sitting (driving to and from job sites and the office.) Tasks require sound, visual, and depth perception. Tasks require oral communication ability.

Environmental Requirements –

Tasks are regularly performed inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, fumes and/or poor ventilation, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature, and noise extremes, machinery and/or moving vehicles, vibrations, electric currents, animals/wildlife, toxic/poisonous agents, gases or chemicals, oils and other cutting fluids, violence and/or disease, or pathogenic substances.

This role qualifies for $2000 sign-up bonus, with $1000 to be disbursed after 90 days and the remaining $1000 at the 6-month mark.
