Signature Homes is currently seeking a Structural Manager in our Nashville, TN market. The primary goal of this position is to enhance the company's operations by ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all structural designs. Furthermore, this role involves addressing any structural problems that occur during construction to keep production on schedule. Additionally, using expertise to make improvements and adjustments in the pre-construction stages is a crucial aspect of this job.

Responsibilities

Pre-Construction:

• Collaborate closely with structural suppliers and designers to ensure that structural layouts are compatible with our MEP requirements and Signature standards.
• Uphold best management practices for structural layouts at Signature Homes.
• Align lot-specific structural layouts with the master plan, ensuring consistency in materials and quantities.
• Oversee the management of structural requests and schedules for both master and lot-specific plans.
• Develop both master and lot-specific dimensional lumber layouts and specify roof bracing configurations.
• Conduct value engineering and offer recommendations for structural layouts during the early design stages of a new home plan.
• Enter structural components into our purchasing system for the initial construction of a home plan and/or specific options.

Post-Construction:

• Address and resolve any field issues related to structural designs.
• Work in conjunction with Project Managers, MEP Managers, suppliers, and the Plans Team to identify and implement improvements after the initial construction of a home plan and/or specific options.
• Initiate requests for any necessary revisions to the structural layouts of master or lot-specific plans.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that revised layouts are accurately provided to field teams.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
• 2+ years' experience designing structural layouts for a lumber yard or engineering firm, preferred residential.
• Exceptional organizational skills.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in building sciences or construction management.
• Experience in residential construction takeoffs and estimating.
• General understanding of MEPs in residential construction.
• Proficiency in the following software:
  • BC Calc
  • Mitek
  • Bluebeam
  • Newstar
  • Prebuilt ML.
