What You'll Do:

As the Property Tax Manager, you will maintain existing client relationships and focuses on property tax and incentive planning opportunities. This includes enforcing policies, standards and guidelines, researching issues, reviewing real and assessable property tax assessments, maintaining company workpaper database, negotiating reduction settlements, and the preparation and presentation of assessment appeals and supporting documentation. You will also research available incentives, present and negotiate incentive requests, and document secured benefits and findings to help our clients receive and save money.

Your Accountabilities in the Role:

  • Monitors team compliance with Firm policies and practice guidelines to ensure they are meeting set company standards.
  • Manages and monitors all aspects of the annual property tax cycle for assigned real and personal property portfolios ensuring they are accurate and meeting deadlines.
  • Develops client workplans and schedules for associated project deliverables to ensure work is done prior to deadlines.
  • Inspects properties, where required, to gather additional information and ensure we are getting accurate tax valuations.
  • Obtains and reviews assessor worksheets and property records, where required, to analyze and ensure accuracy.
  • Prepares independent target values for each property assigned using appropriate valuation methodology.
  • Manages all client communication, prepares and conducts client presentations, and responds in a timely manner to ensure we are exceeding the clients' expectations.
  • Reviews and reconciles client data and identifies tax issues to research and try and receive or save money for clients.
  • Manages personnel (assignments, position requests, etc.) while fostering a team environment that demonstrates support of firm management and decisions while building a positive culture of collaboration and mentoring staff.
  • Manages all aspects of the appeal process (informal, formal, and litigation) and reports status and results to the client and firm management.

Position Requirements:

  • Education: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred; will consider Degrees in Business Administration or Mathematics with related property tax experience.
  • Experience: Approximately 5+ years of progressive property tax experience; with 3+ years of supervisory or mentoring experience preferred; will train the right person that is able to learn.
  • Certification(s): CPA, CMI or Level III preferred; Will consider the right candidate that is willing to obtain them.
  • Functional Skills: Excellent planning, organization, and executing skills; strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking; direct experience in moving from project to project, priority to priority on a daily basis; excellent thoroughness, attention to detail, with the ability to work well within tight due dates and meet deadlines.
  • Technology Aptitude/Skills: Strong background with property tax systems (i.e. JetPack, PTMS, Appeal Track, etc.), with an advanced MicroSoft Office Skillset in Excel and Word.
  • Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; will interact with key customers, leaders, team members, and the community on a regular basis.
  • Leadership/Behaviors: Must be forward-thinking, customer-focused, process/project driven, with the ability to lead, mentor, and influence others with ease. Requires strong relationship-building and collaboration, who is also a team player and approachable. Also requires someone who is life-long learner, compliance-oriented and self-directed, who can lead and mentor others. Flexibility and adaptability are also important to meet the needs of the clients.

Other Important Information:

Pay/Salary: Salary is commensurate with proven expertise. There is also a Bonus Program to recognize achievement!

Reports To: Director Of Operations

Core Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (schedule can be flexible)

Typical Work Week: Monday to Friday; Some Saturdays during busy season (45 hours on average, more during busy season)

Direct Reports: 2-3 Analysts

Travel: 1-2 times per month to appeal boards or to inspect properties.
