GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is unskilled and limited semi-skilled manual work in roadway. Assists in the maintenance and repair of City facilities, streets and rights-of-ways. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Foreman, with direction from the Operations and Maintenance Supervisor, and reviewed through observation, conversation, and evaluation of results achieved.

EQUIPMENT USED
Dump truck, flat-bed truck, roller, front-end loader, back-hoe, forklift, wood chippers, compressor, pneumatic tools, power tampers, paint machines, various hand and power tools, street sweeper, loader, and double drum roller.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Using a variety of hand tools, power tools and construction equipment, participates in the maintenance and repair of sidewalks, curbing, asphalt, and trimming trees.
- Storm water maintenance and repair activities including use of heavy equipment in and around ditches, ponds and piping.
- Receives and understands written and verbal instructions.
- Work requires standing for extended periods, frequent lifting of 40 lbs. or more, frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, digging, reaching, crawling, kneeling, and climbing of ladders. Operates pickup truck, backhoe and mowing equipment.
- Works frequently in extreme weather. Occasionally works in confined areas and at various heights.
- Performs any other duties or tasks that may be assigned.
- Non-essential Functions - Sweeping and cleaning work areas. Completing forms, writing reports, delivering messages.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or recognized equivalent certification required. One or more years of experience performing work in the general maintenance of roads or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must possess a valid State of Florida driver's license
EQUIPMENT USED

- Chain saw, jackhammer, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, shovels, concrete finishing tools, cut off saw, plate compactor, street sweeper, backhoe and pick-up truck.
