WHAT YOU’LL DO  
 
  • Oversees all departments and services and is responsible for creating a hospital environment that bolsters the morale and retention of doctors and staff.
  • Leads veterinarian and support staff teams and handles conflict with maturity and emotional intelligence.
  • Work together as a team with Medical Director / Department Heads and Regional Field Management team to promote and develop collaborative patient care, client service, and financial/medical goals.
  • Develop supervisors through coaching and mentoring. Provide consistent, regular feedback and training to ensure their departments are efficiently managed.
  • Analyze, forecast, and make recommendations regarding revenue, scheduling, DVM productivity, profit margins, capital expenditures, budgeting, and AR/AP. Ensure purchasing, staff scheduling, expenditures, and cash control remain within target budgets.
  • Perform staff performance and salary reviews, with input from Medical Director and Department Heads
  • Implement Disciplinary Action, Performance Improvement Plans, and Terminations, with approval from Human Resources and input from Medical Director / Department Heads and Regional Field Management team.
  • Training, education, and development of hospital leadership and staff.
  • Assign job responsibility to department supervisors to direct traffic in the hospital, i.e., patient care, treatments, and staff duties. Direct supervisors to schedule hospital staffing for maximum coverage while meeting payroll targets.
  • Ensure payroll, benefits, and human resource activities are completed accurately and promptly.
  • Resolve client complaints (involving Department Heads as needed), and oversee billing and any discounts and special accounts to minimize accounts receivable.
  • Ensure hospital compliance with accounting best practices, OSHA safety protocols, and DEA requirements.
  • Continually monitor and spearhead updates as needed in all practice software and technical programs, as well as records management
  • Collaborate with Rarebreed marketing teams and internal stakeholders to support and continue marketing efforts for the hospital.
  • Plan and conduct monthly staff and department meetings. Connect with staff by using communication and presence as a way for the staff to feel acknowledged, appreciated, and supported.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS   
 
·       College degree required; Master’s Degree recommended.
·       Must have at least five years of experience managing a large medical care facility; prior experience in a veterinary environment is recommended.
·       Must be friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented and able to interact with all levels of staff professionally.
·       Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
·       Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks at once and deal with high levels of stress in an environment of changing priorities
·       Experience with financial planning and execution, inventory, and COGS management
·       Background in managing service-oriented operations
·       Able to think strategically and deploy vision through change management
·       Ability to take information obtained from clients, staff, and other sources, discern that which is credible and assess the hospital and its operation objectively
·       Dependable attendance is required
·       Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions.
