SQL Analyst

We’re looking for a motivated, self-starter to take part in the development activities of our custom software platform responsible for managing and analyzing data using the PostgreSQL database system working alongside our internal and with outsourced offshore engineering teams.  This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing SQL queries, as well as ensuring the integrity and security of the PostgreSQL databases. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide valuable insights through data analysis.

Your responsibilities

• Database Management
  • Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
  • Optimize and tune database performance for efficient query execution.
• SQL Query Development
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data.
  • Create and modify stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
• Data Analysis
  • Perform data analysis using PostgreSQL tools and features.
  • Generate reports and visualizations based on data insights.
• Data Integration
  • Integrate data from various sources into PostgreSQL databases.
  • Implement and manage ETL processes to move and transform data.
• Data Modeling
  • Develop and maintain data models specific to PostgreSQL databases.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and implement data requirements.
• Troubleshooting and Maintenance
  • Identify and resolve database issues and errors in a timely manner.
  • Implement backup and recovery procedures for PostgreSQL databases.
• Documentation
  • Document PostgreSQL database processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain data dictionaries and metadata information.
• Security
  • Implement and maintain security measures for PostgreSQL databases, including access controls and encryption.

This role will be in-office and located at Armatus HQ in Hunt Valley, MD.

Qualifications

• Educational Background
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in SQL with a focus on PostgreSQL.
  • Experience in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL-specific features such as JSONB, hstore, and full-text search.
• Analytical Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex data sets within a PostgreSQL environment.
• Communication Skills
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
