Job Title: Transportation Driver (Part-Time)

Pay Range: $16.00-16.50, more possible with commensurate experience

FLSA Status: Part-Time, Non-Exempt, Regular

Work Schedule: 16-24 hours per work week

Reports to: Manager of Transportation

Location: Colorado Springs, CO

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

Transport Silver Key clients from the door of their pickup location to various medical and personal appointments and into the door of the destination location. This position will drive lift-assisted vehicles to accommodate wheelchairs and up to 14 passengers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Knowledge and use of safe driving practices

• Follows instructions to safely pick up and drop off clients at designated locations

• Follows Silver Key standardized procedures for providing excellent customer service in the transport of clients and their belongings to include door-through-door service

• Must utilize excellent interpersonal and human relationship skills in interacting with clients, the public and Silver Key personnel

• Responsive and sensitive to cultural differences

• Demonstrate high level of integrity, dependability and act as a team player

• Ability to work with computer technology

• Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds

• Volunteer engagement

• Other duties as assigned

None.

VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT RESONSIBILITIES

Silver Key is a volunteer centric organization. You may be regularly interacting and engaging with volunteers, so it is your responsibility to show appreciation for their efforts and occasionally provide guidance.

DRIVING DUTIES

Will be required to drive on behalf of Silver Key Senior Services. Must maintain a current, valid Colorado Driver's License. Must maintain the state issued minimum automotive liability insurance coverage. Must observe and obey all federal, state, and local traffic laws. Responsible for the proper function and maintenance of any Silver Key vehicles used in performing assigned duties.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Silver Key Senior Services is a drug-free organization. Business-specific knowledge: Knowledge of Silver Key Senior Services mission statement, policies/procedures, business-specific software and safety regulations. This position does require a check by Colorado Adult Protective Services (CAPS).

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to pass insurability standards

• Colorado driver's license with a safe driving record is required. Must submit to MVR checks semi-annually

• Must successfully complete PASS training within 6 months of hire and participate in multiple training opportunities provided by Silver Key throughout each year of service

DESIRABLE, PREFERRED, OR SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS

One or more months of passenger transportation experience preferred. Experience working with Senior Citizens preferred. Experience handling money, such as donations, is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills. Ability to function in a fast moving and constantly changing environment. Strong computer skills including use of web browsers and the internet.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Colorado Driver's License required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires standing, walking and sitting for periods of time. Use of hands and fingers to use office computer keyboard and equipment required. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, hear and stoop, kneel or crouch if needed. Driving light/medium/heavy duty vehicles. Carrying of light and moderate weight items. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as needed. Must be able to push and maneuver wheelchairs carrying up to 300 lbs.

VISION REQUIREMENTS

Position requires close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Moderate noise within business office atmosphere and vehicle with clients, movement and traffic. Some work outside and may be exposed to inclement weather.
