Established in 1925, The Sparrows Point Country Club is a privately owned club that overlooks the waterfront, featuring an 18-hole championship golf course, marina, tennis facility, Olympic size pool, and a full-service clubhouse that provides service from casual to formal dining and weddings to special events.

We are searching for a success driven Food and Beverage Manager at the Sparrows Point Country Club!

The F&B Manager has a key role at Sparrows Point Country Club that is responsible for Clubhouse Food and Beverage Service operations, including member dining, banquet operations as well as other additional ancillary F&B operations. This role works closely with the General Manager and directly supervises the Events Coordinator and Food and Beverage FOH Service Team.

The Manager is the public face of these operations and should offer a hands-on approach and an understanding that full on-the-floor members and staff engagement are critical to success in this position. The role consistently ensures superb dining and experiences for the Club's Members and Guests. The relationship with the Culinary, A La Carte and Banquet Service Teams is very important to this position, ensuring collaborative and harmonious relationships between front and back of house operations.

Compensation: $65,000 - $70,000 - Salary

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure associates clearly understand performance expectations and assigned tasks are reasonable, well-conceived, and appropriately conveyed. Provide resources necessary to allow employees to perform their jobs effectively and be fair and firm in adherence to club policy and procedure.
  • Take personal ownership of his or her area of responsibility, with special attention to the physical plant and overall appearance of the operation and understand the need to be consistently “member ready” in both appearance and service.
  • Supervise the Events Coordinator, F&B Bartenders and Service Staff. 
  • Approve service schedule prior to posting and approve all invoices/purchases, physically conduct F&B inventory with Events Coordinator or F&B Bartender.
  • Explore innovative avenues for increasing Food & Beverage Gross and Net dollars to plan on a per month/period basis by concentrating strongly on increasing covers and check averages as they apply to A la carte and Catering.
  • Work with the General Manager and Executive Chef in implementing Gross Margin pricing in the design of all Club menus to achieve F&B net goal and member satisfaction and to establish profitable catering menus that meet Members and Guests needs.
  • Work with the Events Coordinator to plan and coordinate Special Events via the BEO with primary focus of increasing member/guest usage and revenues through proper planning and marketing.
  • Ensure that departments are in thorough compliance with the Food & Beverage Standards of Operation as they apply.
  • Supervise bar, responsible for profitability and productivity of bar and bartenders, purchase all liquor, wine, and beer.
  • Ensure that the Club is in strict compliance with all Purchasing Agreements and that all Club Food & Beverage programs are properly marketed, executed, and tracked.
  • Ensures that all legal requirements are consistently adhered to including wage and hour and federal, state and/or local laws pertaining to alcoholic beverages.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree required.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college is desirable, preferably in Hospitality or Business
    Management or substantial hospitality experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years preferred experience in Food Beverage Management.
  • Certification/License Food Service Sanitation is preferred.
  • Budget Control/Responsibility Total Beverage Operations experience. 
  • Security/Confidentiality Access to confidential material and circumstances.
  • Training in Responsible alcohol management.
  • Computer experience, familiarity with Club Essentials preferred.
  • Excellent communications skills, outgoing personality, and a "Can Do' attitude.
