Assistant Dean for Church Vocations

ROLE: Christ College at Concordia University Irvine seeks an Assistant Dean for Church Vocations beginning July 1, 2024. The assistant dean will report to the Dean of Christ College and will champion Concordia's LCMS church vocations programs, oversee recruitment and formation of church vocations students, and facilitate communication with relevant Synodical agencies and entities. The individual will provide direction for one staff member and the directors of several church vocations programs (pre-seminary, Lutheran teaching, DCE, DPM, pre-deaconess). In addition, the individual may provide administrative support for the college's academic functions (e.g., academic schedule planning, assessment, academic program oversight). The anticipated teaching load is one to two courses per semester. Candidates should hold an earned doctorate in theology or another discipline relevant to church-worker formation, or be prepared to complete a doctorate, and have at least five years of full-time parish experience. Strong team-work and relationship-building skills are required; successful team ministry experience is highly desired.

Qualifications: Qualifications: Only candidates who are currently ordained or commissioned ministers in The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod or one of its partner church bodies will be considered for the position. The position requires Synodical prior approval per bylaw 3.10.6.7.3 (2019 LCMS Handbook).
