West End Residences is a dba (doing business as) HOMEWARD NYC, a developer and provider of housing and services for homeless and formerly homeless youth and older adults, seeks A Full-Time Security Guard for its West End Intergenerational Residence, responsibilities required but not limited to are the following:

1.SECURITY GUARD PATROLS BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS, INCLUDING ROOF AND BASEMENT, IN ALL WEATHER.
2. MONITOR ENTRANCE, EGRESS, AND EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING THROUGH VISUAL AND MECHANICAL MEANS.
3. SECURITY GUARD PROVIDES FRONT DESK RECEPTION AND CONTROL SIGN-IN FOR RESIDENTS, STAFF, AND VISITORS. HANDLE INCOMING AND OUTGOING CALLS AT ALL TIMES.
4. DETERMINE UNLAWFUL ACTIVITY AND INTERVENE IN PHYSICAL/VERBAL CONFLICTS.
5. SECURITY GUARD RESPONDS TO SECURITY EMERGENCIES OR SERIOUS DIFFICULTIES WITH CLIENTS. OBTAIN NECESSARY ASSISTANCE FROM OUTSIDE SOURCES ( POLICE, FIRE DEPT., AMBULANCE, ETC.)
6. SECURITY GUARD ALERTS SUPERVISORY STAFF OF EMERGENCIES AND REPORT ALL INCIDENTS IN WRITING.
7. PROVIDE BASIC FIRST-AID OR ASSISTANCE TO THE SICK AND INJURED.
8. SECURITY GUARD MAINTAINS ONGOING COMMUNICATION THROUGH THE USE OF PORTABLE COMMUNICATIONS RADIO.
9. SECURITY GUARD ATTENDS MONTHLY SAFETY MEETINGS.
10. PERFORM OTHER RELEVANT DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS THAT MAY BE ASSIGNED.
11. ENSURE SHIFT FUNCTIONS ARE CARRIED OUT.
12. REPORTS ARE UP TO DATE.

Qualifications:

8 HOUR and 16 HOUR SECURITY CERTIFICATIONS,
NYS SECURITY LICENSE,
FIRST AID AND CPR. CERTIFICATIONS
NEW YORK CITY FIRE GUARD F80 NYCFD CERTIFICATES OF FITNESS
REQUIRED A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA or GED
PRIOR EXPERIENCE
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19; or have received a single-dose COVID-19 vaccine, even if two weeks have not passed since you have received the vaccine; or you must have received the first dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine.

Homeward NYC is a nonprofit organization providing housing and services for homeless persons.

We own and operate two LGBTQ young adult supportive housing (affordable housing with support) sites and a mixed-age housing site that is a transitional family shelter for homeless mothers and children and long-term, affordable housing for low-income and homeless seniors. Homeward NYC was formerly known as West End Intergenerational Residence and our True Colors Supportive Housing.

At each location, we provide housing and support services including case management, life skills, counseling, and community partnerships. The Life Skills Program is a core component of our direct services; the program builds skills for housing stability, and promotes healing and increased independence. Our Transitional Care & Aftercare Program launches in 2023.

Our mixed-age housing is located on the Upper West Side. Our LGBTQ supportive housing sites are located in West Harlem and the Bronx. A third LGBTQ site (located in Central Harlem) opens fall 2023. Our administrative office for Finance and Operations is located in Morningside Heights.
