Research Technician

The Bolding Lab is seeking a Research Technician and Lab Manager to contribute to systems neuroscience research into memory mechanisms and olfactory information processing. We use large-scale in vivo electrophysiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics, quantitative behavioral analysis, and novel molecular tools to understand the neural basis of olfactory recognition, social recognition, and memory.
The core responsibilities include developing and conducting complex mouse behavioral experiments using custom scripts (i.e., Python and Bonsai), stereotaxic mouse surgery for viral injections and intracranial implantation of optic fibers, lenses, and electrodes, and statistical analysis of neural and behavioral data. Training will be provided and specific tasks will be tailored to the lab’s current needs and your abilities. Please visit boldinglab.org for more lab-specific information.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Systems Neuroscience Techniques:
- Perform established experimental procedures and operate a variety of scientific equipment
- Tissue processing and histological procedures
- Stereotaxic surgeries and injection of viral constructs in laboratory animals
- Behavioral experiments and analysis
- Neural and behavioral data processing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Neuroscience or related field
- Highly engaged by systems neuroscience research and a strong interest in the questions our lab is pursuing
- Ability to handle and work with laboratory animals
- Excellent troubleshooting / problem solving in complex systems
- Previous experience with systems neuroscience research is strongly preferred
- Experience with multivariate statistics, machine learning, Python, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi are valued
