Job Description

Plate Roll Operator

Northwest Houston

Summary:
The Plate Roll Operators’ primary duties include rolling steel plates of varying size and thickness, setting up and operating machines, and utilizing blueprints and make the adjustments for materials used. Operators will set up and run Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machinery that will heat, mill, cut, form, drill, broach or ream metal, plastic or processed material parts.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Comply with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures

· Clean material from any slag or imperfection to prevent damage to the metal during rolling

· Sets up and operates various machines on a daily basis as specified by procedures and documentation

· Informs supervisor of any discrepancies in documentation or materials

· Observes and keeps accurate records

· Performs preventative maintenance on machines

· Maintains a safe working environment

· Proper use of overhead cranes to bring in materials and load rolls in compliance with company standards

· Identify various metals and alloys (mild steels, aluminum, stainless, etc.)

· Use oxygen/acetylene torch for cutting metals

· Use grinder and other hand/power tools required to grind, bevel and remove slag

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

· 6+ months’ related experience (3-pinch rolls, pyramid rolls, etc.)

· Mechanically inclined with the ability to read blueprints/drawings and perform quality inspections

· Ability to work in manufacturing environment and use hand/power tools

· Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 lbs.

· Able to safely operate a lift truck up to 40,000 lbs. lift capacity

· Ability to operate overhead crane

· Must understand metric/standard measurements as well as OD/ID

· Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
