Salary:

Position Summary: The Network Equipment Specialist I position performs technical engineering work related to communications networks, develops plans, specifications, and inspection reports to ensure these items are complete, accurate, and in accordance with good engineering practice. This position is technically involved in the resolution of design and equipment issues that may include performing field investigations or inspections, preparation of detailed plans and specifications for electronics, building powering, HVAC, and associated equipment requirements, checking of design computations done by others, or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project. Work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. Has client contact at staff level.

 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Operates and maintains technical test instruments to accomplish related work assignments.
  • Provides calculations and records in support of all site engineering activities.
  • Draft and summarize field notes in an organized and acceptable manner.
  • Assignments are performed for any size project, at any location, as required.
  • Provide competent engineering and technical assistance to the Project Manager and Supervisors
  • Design communication networks utilizing current programs.
  • Complete weekly time sheets, in conjunction with weekly expense and mileage reports.
  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints to plan projects.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety standards.
  • Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
  • Prepare or present reports on topics such as bid proposals, deeds, environmental impact statements, or property and right-of-way descriptions.
  • Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and structural repairs to managerial personnel.
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.


Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years technical college in associated field and experience.

Preferred:

  • Four-year engineering degree in electrical, Mechanical, Information Technology or related field at an ABET accredited institution.

 

Licenses, Certifications, Training Requirements:

  • A valid motor vehicle driver’s license in good standing is required. No DWI/DUI convictions (the previous number of years will be determined by the state in which the license is obtained).


Physical Requirements and Environmental Factors:

  • Flow of work involves normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination much of the time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.  Finley Engineering Company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status, etc.) for this position.


Work Location (Office, Field, Hybrid, Remote):

  • Remote, but must reside within the Midwest US.


Travel:

  • Travel approximately 30% of the time.
