Mine Engineer

JOB LOCATION:
Mountain Coal Company - West Elk Mine
OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:
Provide engineering support regarding design and technical assistance with all aspects of the underground mining operations
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Provide engineering technical support to the mine. This may include surface and underground utilities layout, ventilation, surface and underground surveying support, roof control, mine planning, underground and surface project management, and other aspects of mining engineering
- Mine site surface engineering projects
- Oversee adherence to permitting conditions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements including subsidence surveys and mining notices
- Submittal of mine plans to State and Federal agencies
- Coordinate and work with survey crews as required
- Maintain mine mapping, including semi-annual and annual map submittals
- Month end production and royalty reporting
- Prepare budget model and determine advancing capital needs
- Economic evaluations of projects
- Preparation and monitoring of short range mine plans
- Interface with mine site, corporate, and government regulatory personnel
- Cost analysis of projects
- Plan and carry out special projects as required by mine management
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in mining engineering, civil engineering, or equivalent education/experience
- Underground mine engineering experience preferred; grade placement based on experience
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and oral
- Critical thinking skills; ability to analyze for optimal outcomes
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
- Current Colorado Mine Forman's Certification or the ability to acquire such timely
- Current MSHA instructor's certification or the ability to obtain within 2 years
- Demonstrated experience with Behavioral Based Safety programs
