MIG Welder / Fitters

Hope Power & Industrial Inc. is a specialty manpower resource provider to contractors, industrial facilities and power generation plants. Our customer has an immediate need for candidates with the following skills and experience as a MIG Welder in Hickory, NC.

Benefits and Pay Range:

• Pay range of $17-$18 DOE
• Benefits Offered (Health, Vision, Dental, Life and PTO)

NO travel expenses/per diem offered.

MIG Welder Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Reads and interprets blueprints
• Capable of structural layout
• Layout I-beams, columns, flanges, and other material
• Safely operates overhead cranes, welding machine, and various pneumatic hand tools
• Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job with no supervision
• Primarily fabricates and/or assembles guards, platforms, and any other structure required
• Uses metal core MIG, flux core, sub-arc or stick welding process (must pass GMAW metal and flux core test)
• Ability to pass applicable test(s) and applicable Non Destructive Exam
• May weld brackets and braces and use grinders.
• May perform position welds on code materials
• Quality of weld is sufficient to pass X-ray, Phased Array and ultrasound test welds with minimum rework
• Proficient in flame and plasma cutting torches and automated equipment
• Must be able to operates basic cutting equipment
• Promotes and supports safety, production and positive attitude
• Must be able to work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department

MIG Welder Basic Qualifications

• Minimum three related experience fitting from blueprints
• Certification to weld plate
• Must pass a 2G welding test w/ backing strip. Flux core 1/16 wire

MIG Welder Preferred Education/Experience:

• Must have experience welding & operating other shop equipment (e.g., overhead crane, hand tools)
• Must have knowledge of different types and sizes of structural materials
• Must have knowledge of butt weld fittings

MIG Welder Physical Strain:

• Standard requirements. Bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting and reaching will all be required occasionally in this position
• Standing for long periods of time
• Lifting 75 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 75 pounds
• Must meet all OSHA regulations
