LEAD MECHANIC

The Pump Shop Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager and will manage a team that provides preventative and repair services for equipment owned by Griffin. This may include both gas- and diesel-powered equipment, engines, centrifugal pumps, submersible pumps, vacuum pumps, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities

• To lead a team that performs repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures.
• Diagnose problems and determine what repairs are needed.
• Complete daily paperwork including equipment tear down reports, inventory reconciliations, equipment repair estimates, material list outbound and inbound checks.
• Manage all maintenance in eMaint system.
• Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair.
• Report any additional work required to ensure proper operation and safety of equipment.
• Maintain an inventory of tools and materials to quickly service and repair Griffin’s standard equipment.
• Work on all units and provide service, maintenance, and hydrostatic testing.
• Follow directives accurately and efficiently.
• Effectively communicate with supervisor, co-workers and subordinates.
• Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
• Comply with applicable OSHA safety and health rules.
• In conjunction with Operations Management team, develop and implement pump testing and maintenance procedures.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Legal to work in US.
• Pass required drug and background screens.
• Minimum High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Minimum 5-10 years’ experience troubleshooting and mechanical repairs.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Percent of Travel Required – up to 25%.
• Experience with John Deere and Perkins engines
• Experience with vacuum, centrifugal and submersible pumps
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of construction equipment:

• Drill Rigs
• Skid Steers
• Fork Lifts
• Pickup trucks

Preferred Experience

• Experience with a web-based maintenance tracking program.
• OSHA 10 Certified.
• TWIC Card.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and stand.
• Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to load, unload, and move large equipment and tools.
• Continuous walking, stair climbing, and lifting.
