About the Role:

The Lead Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of all vehicles, landscape machinery and equipment on site. This position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of a diverse range of heavy-duty landscaping vehicles and tools. The Lead Mechanic will lead a team of technicians, providing guidance and expertise to maintain high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This role requires a proactive approach to equipment management, including scheduling preventative maintenance and responding swiftly to breakdowns to minimize downtime. Ultimately, the Lead Mechanic ensures that all machinery operates reliably to support the successful and timely completion of projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair, preferably within the landscaping industry.
  • Proven experience leading or supervising a team of mechanics or technicians.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components used in landscaping machinery.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license and ability to operate landscaping equipment and vehcles as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from a recognized trade or technical school in heavy equipment mechanics or diesel technology.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • OSHA certification or other relevant safety training credentials.
