Staff Accountant

Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant position will work closely and report directly to the Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis (VP of FP&A), and work alongside the Accounts Payable Manager, Accounts Receivable Manager, and other members of the accounting staff to maintain financial records for communities assigned. The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains the general ledger
- Closes the monthly books
- Books accrual/prepaid entries
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits and addresses inquiries from banks
- Performs monthly inter-company billing
- Reports financial data accurately and timely
- Analyzes data and trends
- Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents
- Prepares and files state sales and use tax data
- Performs other duties as assigned
Reports to: Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis (VP of FP&A)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or 3-5 years of relevant experience required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required
- Ability to make independent decisions in line with standards set by senior leadership
- Ability to work under time constraints and meet departmental deadlines required
- Knowledge of and ability to apply accounting concepts/procedures required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Advanced skillset in Microsoft Excel required
- Experience with Sage 50 (Peachtree) accounting software preferred
- Experience in senior housing industry preferred

Physical Job Requirements
To fulfill job requirements, employee must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods. Proper body mechanics and safety measures as prescribed by Oaks Senior Living, LLC must be adhered to. In a typical eight-hour day, employee may:
- Sit up to eight hours a day
- Support up to 70 pounds
- Lift/carry up to 50 pounds
- Frequently kneel, bend, and reach
