We are seeking an experienced tax professional to join our Manufacturing and Distribution team. In this role you will juggle multiple projects to a high degree of efficiency, and you demonstrate proficient technical skills in a variety of tax and accounting areas. You love working in a collaborative team but are also comfortable digging into a project solo. You enjoy being challenged and get excited about learning new things. You foster strong relationships with the staff who work with you on your engagements, and you are comfortable providing feedback – both positive and constructive. You’ll help business leaders look around corners, go beyond the numbers, do something different by developing rapport with clients and making a difference. What you’ll be doing

  • Tax research including drafting research memorandums that clearly present the facts, the issues at hand, the conclusion, and the supporting factors.
  • Responsible for the supervision and completion of routine tax return preparation engagements, including ability to set timelines, budgets and manage client expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with all levels of staff on client engagements while also providing support and feedback for less experienced staff.
  • May supervise staff accountants and evaluate their progress when appropriate.
  • Have an innate curiosity about tax code sections, case law, and its application to businesses.
  • Understanding of business flow through entity taxation, including s-corporation and partnership tax review skills.
  • Maintain professional and effective communication with clients and begin to recognize opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
  • Assist with all aspects of the annual tax compliance for business and individual clients including planning, projections, extensions, responses to tax notices, research, drafting client memorandum, and calculating quarterly estimated payments.
  • Adhere to the core values and standards of the organization.
Requirements:

What makes you a fit

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a similar discipline. Advanced degree in Tax is a plus.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA), or in the process of becoming one.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience in general tax, preferably with at least 1 year working with manufacturing and/or distribution clients.
  • Experience with Caseware and ProFx software preferred.
  • Proficient in MS Office technology suite.
  • Strong knowledge of common book tax timing difference, such as those related to accruals, reserves, inventory, and deferred revenue.
  • Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and depreciation methods.
  • Intermediate knowledge of State and Local tax concepts around nexus, apportionment and other compliance related issues.
  • Intermediate knowledge of income tax provision concepts and calculations.
  • Intermediate knowledge of accounting method changes -Including reparation of form 3115’s.

Experience Requirements:

  • Experienced Tax Staff I-III: 1-3+ years with the above experience.
  • Tax Senior: 3-5+ years with the above experience.
