Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team at Neurology Diagnostics. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting the physician and other healthcare professionals in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with neurological conditions. You will work closely with our neurologist and support staff to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and nurses in the examination and treatment of patients with neurological disorders.
- Prepare patients for procedures and examinations, including obtaining medical histories and vital signs.
- Manage prior authorizations and prescription requests.
- Administer medications and injections under the direction of a physician or nurse practitioner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including electronic health records (EHRs), for all patients.
- Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, and follow-up care as necessary.
- Provide patient education and instructions regarding treatment plans, medications, and preventive measures.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying insurance coverage.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), or LPN preferred.
- Prior experience working in a medical office or clinical setting, preferably in neurology or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Proficiency in basic medical terminology, computer skills, and electronic health record systems.
- Knowledge of medical procedures, diagnostic tests, and equipment used in neurology practice.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, multitask efficiently, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards of practice.
