Job Description

MRI, a woman-owned Technologies and Engineering Services company, has an exciting opportunity for an Information Systems Security Officer to support our work on the NOC contract at the Neutral Buoyancy Lab at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The ISSO will play a crucial role in ensuring the secure operation of all our information systems. This position involves a blend of strategic planning and hands-on technical work, making it ideal for someone passionate about cybersecurity and the space exploration sector. We are at the forefront of developing innovative technical solutions, and we need your expertise to continue advancing our mission in deep space exploration.

As an Information Systems Security Officer, you will:

  • Implement selected controls to safeguard information systems in accordance with NASA standards.
  • Create, manage, and execute Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&Ms) and Risk Based Decisions (RBDs) to address system vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with security requirements.
  • Conduct annual internal assessments as part of the continuous monitoring plan to evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and identify areas for improvement.
  • Install security updates and patches in a timely manner to mitigate potential threats.
  • Apply the proper security baseline for all systems per NASA standards, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data.
  • Work closely with system administrators, network engineers, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of security awareness and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to continually enhance the security posture of NBL's information systems.

Here's What You'll Need:

Requisition Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field. Certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience as an ISSO or in a similar cybersecurity role, preferably in a government or aerospace environment.
  • Familiarity with NASA security policies, procedures, and standards is a significant plus.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles, frameworks, and best practices.
  • Experience with risk management, including conducting assessments and implementing POA&Ms and RBDs.
  • Technical proficiency in installing security software and updates, and applying security baselines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

This is an onsite role

Attendance

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
