Job Description

Gridiron IT is seeking an experienced Section 508 Trusted Tester v. 5.0. As a member of the Web & Applications Development team, you’ll work to satisfy the unique requirements of our clients regarding Section 508 standards and compliance. This role will deliver trusted solutions to customer challenges and works as part of a team to ensure that all applications, webpages, documents, and medial files posted are accessible to people of all abilities.

Task Responsibilities:
As a Section 508 Trusted Tester v. 5.0, you will help ensure that federal agency applications, webpages, documents, and media files are fully compliant with Section 508 standards and requirements. Our tasking relies on having competent, knowledgeable, and efficient Trusted Testers on our team that ensure our federal clients’ sites and materials are compliant and accessible, and are available to provide consultative feedback, and quality assurance support.

  • Reviews, remediates, and quality assurance checks documents, web applications, websites, and media files for Section 508 compliance.
  • Validates software and web-based ICT for compliance against the current Section 508 standards as updated by the ICT Refresh.
  • Plans, prepares, and executes tests to verify system 508 compliance and documenting and reporting of the test results.
  • Develops test plans, scripts, and scenarios and implements them utilizing software test procedures.
  • Participates in test planning meetings and test readiness reviews providing technical input.
  • Testing 508 accessibility on mobile devices (iOS + Android) using iOS Voiceover and Android Talkback. Working knowledge of HTML and ARIA elements and attributes, and how those affect screen readers on web application.
  • Participates in weekly standup meetings and monthly Section 508 Lessons Learned reviews
  • Develops, codes, deploys, and maintains web applications and websites. Tests and creates contingency plans for optimal website usability and connectivity
  • Analyzes customer requirements to provide websites according to the client's moderately complex specifications and needs
  • Coordinates with graphics and web designers to develop web applications and websites
  • Tests and makes recommendations for web applications and websites for next level production
  • Maintains and recommends updates to websites ensuring changes are implemented without disruption
  • Creates and implements contingency plans in preparation of website outages
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant programming that will enhance web applications and websites overall functionality


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience/Education:
  • BA/BS
  • 5+ years of experience as a Section 508 Tester or similar role
  • Technical Skills:
    • Completed and Passed the Trusted Tester V5 certification (https://www.section508.gov/blog/DHSTrusted-Tester-Program-Updates)
  • Background working with testing tools:
  • JAWS Screen Reader
  • Accessible Name and Description Inspector (ANDI)
  • Zoom Text
  • Colour and Contrast Analyser (CCA) tool from the Paciello Group Web Accessibility Toolbar
  • CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery knowledge to ensure proper suggested fixes to issues found during testing.
  • Ability to review and remediate Document ICT including, but not limited to, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF.
  • Ability to review and remediate media ICT including training modules.
  • Linux (RHEL)

 

  • Other:
  • Availability to work during Eastern time “core hours” (10am3pm).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and customer service skills, to provide regular status updates to the 508 Team Lead and project managers
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust
  • Ability to work independently and consistently adhere to project/deliverable deadlines.
  • Ability to work 100% remotely

 

  • Additional Preferred qualifications but not required:

Experience with Dragon Naturally Speaking (Professional or Legal)
