A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHAPLAIN

As a Chaplain, you provide spiritual support and assessment to patients and families by assisting in the bereavement services as they need it. You participate in the preparation, evaluation and execution of the interdisciplinary Plan of Care to assure that the highest quality of spiritual care services is given to patients and families. You will also maintain up-to-date accurate and appropriate documentation in the hospice chart.

In addition, you will assist with developing and coordinating relations between Hospice and community religious/spiritual resources and participate in liaison with community and local religious leaders in order to access their resources to help meet the needs of hospice patients and families.


QUALIFICATIONS FOR CHAPLAIN

  • Ordained minister or chaplain in good standing within his/her denomination.
  • Excellent communication skills required.
  • Creativity and motivational skills needed.
  • Must work as a part of the team to provide care to patients and families faced with a terminal illness.
  • Must understand the grief process both in dealing with patients and their families.
  • Must have reliable transportation, proof of insurance and a valid Oklahoma driver's license in good standing.
