Job Description

The following position is open: Sr. Test Engineer

At Custom Microwave Inc., A Vitesse Systems Company, we design, engineer, and manufacture world class antenna solutions for satellite applications. Helping our customers put stuff in space is our specialty, and we have a blast doing it. Which is where you come in: We have an opening for an out-of-this-world Sr. Test Engineer.

The Sr. Test Engineer will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, test, troubleshoot, and validate antenna solutions for satellite, commercial, and defense applications. Are you ready to launch into an impactful and interesting role? We’re excited to work with you.

What You’ll Do (Essential Job Functions):

  • Work with program teams to create and review test plans.
  • Lead the generation, review, and approval of test layout models and drawings.
  • Assist with technical proposals.
  • Generate Test Ready Review (TRR) packages and support customer reviews as required.
  • Collaborate with design engineering for hardware and test improvements.
  • Lead and execute environmental and RF tests.
  • Act as a technical resource for technicians, providing support with troubleshooting, training, and mentorship to the Integration and Test Team.
  • Maintain equipment associated with operating test facility to include calibrating equipment and maintaining adequate inventory of parts to support maintenance and testing requirements.
  • Perform analysis of test results and prepare comprehensive test reports which verify and validate system performance for customers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders determine accuracy and repeatability budget for various tests.
  • Provide project support including, but not limited to: design reviews, presentations, data reviews, and production support.
  • Troubleshoot various test issues as they arise during testing of antenna systems.
  • Lead quality assurance efforts and validation within the department.
  • Create and modify Integration and Test related Work Instruction and Processes.
  • Champion continuous improvement projects within the department.
  • Support program meetings in developing root cause and corrective actions.
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

What You’ll Bring (Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • Experience and understanding of environmental tests, including vibration and thermal.
  • Familiarity with communication systems, RF/microwave components, and test equipment.
  • Ability to program/script to process complex sets of data.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Ability to provide team mentorship and guidance.

Your Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a related role
  • Must provide proof of US Citizenship or Permanent Residency to comply with ITAR requirements.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen per Custom Microwave, Inc.’s drug testing policy.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check per Custom Microwave, Inc.’s policy.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

The manufacturing facility is more than 56,000 square feet. Workers may be exposed to loud noises, chemicals, and other occupational hazards; personal protective equipment may be provided by The Company and at request.

  • Able to stand on a hard surface intermittently for longer than 30 minutes during the work shift.
  • Able to sit for longer than 30 minutes intermittently during the work shift.
  • Able to grip, pinch, grasp, and hold test components.
  • Able to reach and maneuver items above shoulder level.
  • May require intermittent use of ladder.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, and/or squat intermittently throughout the work shift.
  • Able to lift and carry 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Able to see in artificial/florescent lighting.


Job Information:
This is a full-time, permanent position. This position is eligible for the employer-sponsored benefits listed under "CMi is Proud to Offer." This position is considered exempt. paid on a salaried basis and is ineligible for overtime pay).

Pay range: $100,000-$130,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
