Job Description

General Position Summary:
The TX Branch Supervisor and Press Operator ensures the production of products meets or exceeds efficiency and quality standards. They must have the knowledge and skills of associated machinery to identify and prevent issues and a detailed eye for proper color, measurements, and other aesthetics. Safely and efficiently perform printing-related tasks. They perform equipment setup and minor maintenance. To make ready, operate, and adjust printing press to maintain required quality and quantity of production.

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday 6am-2:30pm
  • Possible overtime Monday-Saturday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

· Maintain an organized, safe, clean, and efficient work area.

· Ensure that all safety policies are being followed and the appropriate PPE is worn.

· Complete all accident/incident investigation forms as needed.

· Ensure that the production area is maintained in an organized, safe, clean, and efficient manner.

· Requisition of component materials at least two work orders in advance. These materials include cores, inks, tooling, boxes, outer labels, packing materials, bags, etc.

· Routinely check-in with employees to see that they are addressing all system and related issues while job is still on press.

· Manage the production process in a manner that optimizes workflow and efficiency in order to meet production goals and profitability objectives. This includes analyzing scrap rates, set-up rates, and run speeds.

· Responsible for ensuring processes, policies, and procedures meet order fulfillment needs, as it pertains to production activities.

· Ensuring all raw materials and department staff are at the production area within thirty minutes of plant start-up.

· Distributing and communicating work orders with corresponding production schedule.

· Address all system and related issues while job is still on press.

· Ensure that the Operational Guideline policy is maintained and that machines are running continuously.

· Ensure that operators are at their stations on time for their shift.

· Ensure that machines are running within thirty (30) minutes of plant start-up.

· Answer all associate questions on the work order and find suitable solutions to minimize downtime.

· Address in a timely manner all quality issues directly with operators for internal and external rejections and that the proper documentation has been filled out and submitted.

· Ensure all quality signoffs are completed on the quality checklist at press-side.

· Investigate and document all jobs that took more than one (1) hour to set up.

· Investigate when a press is not hitting their targeted FPM on jobs. Offer any assistance you can to get to the desired run speed. Fill out the Press speed required vs actual every 2 hours.

· Hold monthly shift meetings and review safety, productivity, and quality metrics within your specific shop.

· Ensure that any changes to work orders are routed through Planning.

· Report any errors found on Work Orders to the Production Manager ASAP.

· That all components have been issued correctly and that the completed quantity is correct on all completed work orders and that the work order has been initialed to signify such. Also be sure that samples have been placed in the job jackets.

· Ensure all tooling is racked or stowed when not in use.

· Have all die jacket log sheets completed.

· Ensure that all work areas are thoroughly cleaned, 5S is maintained, and all ancillary items are stowed and off the immediate work area.

· Ensure machines are running efficiently and assist in scheduled upkeep and maintenance.

· Explain and offer guidance on procedures.

· Build, motivate, train and lead a high performing team.

· Aid employees from other departments.

· Run machine when employees are on break/s.

Press Operator Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

· Process job on press based on work order requirements.

· Ensure machine is running efficiently and that job is completed in accordance with work order requirements.

· Mount paper, dies, and plates.

· Set punch unit and change perfs.

· Adjust inks and paper.

· Provide basic machinery support including oiling, solvents, water and cleaning.

· Verify order materials are ready for job completion.

· Maintain an organized, safe, clean, and efficient work area.

Other & Miscellaneous:

· Suggests and participates in implementation of changes to improve the organization.

· Explains and offers guidance on routine procedures.

· Reports all irregular issues and problems to management for solution.

· Maintains good communication with other Continental Datalabel staff.

· Complies with all company policies and procedures.

· Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area.

· Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace.

Job Dimensions (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities or KSAs):
Critical KSAs Needed:

Organization skills, Attention to Detail, Confidentiality, Dependability/Reliability, Ethics/Business Compliance, Work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, Problem solving skills, Time management, Excellent operating skills, Follows safety protocol, Ability to prioritize and arrange job assignments, Experience with JDEdwards Oneworld and MDLink are a plus, Must demonstrate excellent multi-tasking, communication, and organizational skills, Ability to demonstrate intermediate level of speech, reading, writing, and comprehension skills in English and Spanish, Must have intermediate computer skills.

· Extremely strenuous physical effort involving objects frequently over 50 pounds and occasionally over 100 pounds.

· Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast paced environment.

· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

· Ability to effectively interact with others in a positive manner.

· Ability to address issues utilizing skills, knowledge, precedent and procedures.

· Ability to stand for long periods.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education

· High school diploma or GED is required. Work experience may substitute for education.

Work Experience Requirements

· Over 1 year of experience relating to Machine/Press operator responsibilities.

· Minimum of 5 years of experience including 2 years of supervisory, in this or a related field.
