SUMMARY

Family Service League is seeking a full-time Housekeeper for a homeless shelter in West Babylon. The Housekeeper will be responsible for the daily cleaning of the interior and exterior of property and grounds, in accordance with Suffolk County regulations. The Housekeeper will provide routine cleaning services and trash removal.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Housekeeper will maintain the exterior of the property by assisting with trash pickup and removal, sweeping, glass cleaning.
• Maintain the interior of the property by performing daily cleaning tasks, including removal and replacement of trash, vacuuming rugs, and washing windows and walls.
• The Housekeeper will prepare rooms for occupancy, including a deep cleaning of the room and bathroom.
• Removal of personal belongings left behind by residents after they move out.
• Daily disinfecting of the common areas, including but not limited to the staff break room, vending machines, front desk, time clock and elevators (in addition to any other assigned areas).
• The Housekeeper will wipe down and clean the elevator cars and doors daily.
• Daily clean the staff bathrooms and offices.
• Launder the agency provided resident sheets, shower curtains and towels.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked laundry area, notify supervisor as inventory needs reordering.
• Notify the Program Director timely of the need for repairs or replacement of equipment or furniture.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital or hospitality setting and be able to work in a team environment required.

Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required.

Ability to lift and carry 20 pounds, work overhead, clean walls and glass and go up and down stairs required.

Flexibility to work at different sites is preferred.
