Material Manager with a minimum of 5 years previous work history needed to maintain and encourage a safe work environment and good housekeeping by example and in accordance with Company Health & Safety Policies / Procedures and Occupations Health & Safety Act.
Ensure optimum internal/external customer service by careful management of:
· Inventory Control
· Shipping & Receiving
· Freight/Traffic and Distribution
· Inventory Integrity
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES :
1.. Supervise Shipping, Receiving, Warehousing, Material Movement and Material Control (Data Entry) functions.
2. Manage inventory levels within company objectives.
3. In conjunction with Engineering, ensure accuracy of all perpetual inventory records ($ value and quantities) striving to achieve accurate annual inventory through good cycle counts.
4. Participate in the overall company Cost Reduction Program.
5. Assist with returning defective product, with participation of the Quality & Purchasing Managers.
6.. Ensure accurate inventory records are maintained and that all required inventory is available.
7. Adhere to ISO/QS 9000 & TS16949 procedures.
8. Provide/obtain training, coaching and motivation to Team leaders and subordinates to support and maintain a group fully capable of ensuring an efficient, functional department.
9. Directly responsible and accountable for enforcement of all Plant & Safety rules, as they are intended, equally with all Associates.
10. Work as a Team Member first with peers and subordinate Associates.
11 Take a lead role in all physical inventories.
12. Play a major and lead role in the Plant CRP Program.
EDUCATION REQUIRED
High School diploma – required.
Post-Secondary Education in Purchasing, MRP & Materials Management – desired
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Materials Management – 5+ years
Purchasing/Buying – 3 years
Knowledge of MRP (SAP)
Experience with the steel industry and automotive industry is an asset.
Must be able to to lead, supervise, and motivate people internally.
Always act in a professional manner.
Must have good communication skills. Frequent vendor/customer contact.
Constant interface/reliance on relationships with Production Manager, Quality, Accounting and Purchasing.
Must have good analytical skills to solve problems and make decisions that impact the plant, processes and personnel. Constant analysis of forecasts, material requirements and impact on business.
