Job Description

The Role: Under the direction of the Community Intervention Manager, the Violence Response Team (VRT) Advocate provides direct supportive services and advocacy for survivors who have experienced domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and stalking in the Sacramento County. The VRT Advocate is essential to WEAVE's efforts to improve the responses to domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking in the community. Primary duties include establishing and maintaining a collaborative relationship at the designated Law Enforcement agency, forming strong, empowering, and professional connections with survivors and Law Enforcement, providing crisis intervention and accompaniments, safety planning, and connecting survivors to other appropriate WEAVE or community partner services as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a social services or criminal justice field and/or two years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with crisis intervention regarding domestic and sexual violence preferred.
  • Experience working directly with law enforcement preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives from criminal justice and social service agencies, as well as volunteers.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and data entry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Consistent demonstration of positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and professional behavior.
  • Ability to be a team player and a commitment to working together to reach goals.
  • Knowledge of community resources preferred; ability to connect survivors with appropriate services.
  • Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the intersectionality of domestic and sexual violence with other issues, such as race, gender, and socioeconomic status.
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour peer counselor training program and pass background check (post-hiring requirement).
  • Annual completion of WEAVE’s Continuing Education (CE) requirements to maintain Peer Counselor certification.
  • Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance.

Compensation: The wage range for this position is $22.40 - $26.34 per hour.
