Software Engineer

DMBA (Deseret Mutual Benefit Administrators) is a non-profit organization that administers benefits for companies who are owned or affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

DMBA is looking for an entry-level software engineer to join our Platforms team. You will work with a team of other software engineers utilizing a robust development platform to create processes and systems to deliver tasks to the right people at the right time. Whether it be building a mobile app to assist participants worldwide in care management of medical conditions or creating a process to route health insurance claims to individuals and teams across many disciplines, there is no shortage of business problems to be solved.

Job Duties:

• Utilize the Appian platform and other tools and technologies to develop solutions to business problems by following best software development practices.
• Design and implement solutions from the ground up, including database design, application architecture, user interface, configuration, and deployment.
• Integrate with various backend services, API's, and databases.
• Collaborate with team members and end users to gather and refine project specifications.
• Maintain and support existing processes.
• Participate in peer reviews of software design, coding, and testing.
• Deliver high quality products and ongoing alignment with business objectives.
• Identify, research, and resolve technical problems.

Requirements:

• Object-oriented programming experience (e.g., Java, C#).
• Understanding of relational database design and querying.
• Ability and desire to quickly learn new technologies.
• Understanding of agile development practices.
• Effective written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of employees and clients.
• Self-motivated and great problem-solving skills.
• Detailed, organized, and able to think through and carry out the vision of an implementation.
• Pasion for quality and continuous improvement; excited to learn and contribute.
• Minimum typing of 50 WPM.
• Bachelor's degree (Information Systems, Computer Science, or other applicable degree).
• Experience with Appian, Pega, health insurance, or employee benefits is a plus.
• Experience and certifications in BPM low-code solutions is a plus.
