POSITION SUMMARY:

The Water Aerobics Instructor will lead and supervise water aerobics classes at hours and times determined by pool management. Classes will focus on balance and coordination while increasing range of motion, joint flexibility, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness without causing strain. Instructor should be prepared to offer classes to a variety of age groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Teaching relevant skills, tactics, and techniques to a wide range of athletes, individuals, and groups
• Monitoring, evaluating, and enhancing participant performance and needs.
• Providing suitable feedback via positivity, encouragement, example, and motivation
• Demonstrating an activity clearly by breaking down the task or technique into a sequence
• Friendly and courteous with participants and team members
• Ensuring a safe environment for all participants
• Implementing the curriculum in an accurate, creative, positive, and efficient fashion

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• At least 2 years of appropriate teaching aquatics programs
• Must have excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills
• Must be a team player
• Current CPR/FIRST AID certifications, or willingness to obtain within a specified period
• Currently or willing to become Red Cross certified
• Currently Certified as a Water Aerobics Instructor

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to move or lift lightweight equipment.
• Position requires activity for extended periods of time (outdoors)
