Description
The Fitness Specialist & Group Exercise Instructor supports the daily operations and programming of the onsite fitness facility Alcon Vision, located in Fort Worth, Texas . This role is responsible for delivering exceptional member experiences through fitness assessments, group exercise instruction, personal training, wellness coaching, recreational sports program assistance, special events, facility support, and outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate is energetic, service-oriented, and passionate about helping individuals improve their overall health and wellness in a safe, welcoming environment.
Hours: Monday - Friday 11:00am - 3:00pm most of the time, occasional 2:00pm - 6:00pm (as needed)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct new member orientations and introduce members to facility services and equipment
  • Perform fitness assessments and develop individualized fitness recommendations
  • Design and implement personal fitness programs tailored to member goals and needs
  • Lead group exercise classes and small group training sessions for diverse fitness levels
  • Provide specialized fitness programming for targeted populations
  • Provide support to recreational sports programming and wellness initiatives
  • Assist with special events, promotions, and community engagement activities
  • Supervise the fitness floor and ensure safe and effective exercise practices

Facility Operations
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards throughout the facility
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance support
  • Provide front desk and member service coverage as needed
  • Adheres to the Cooper's Purpose and its Core Values (P.R.E.F.I.C.S.)
  • Other duties as assigned by Fitness Manager.

Requirements
To perform this job successfully, the Fitness Specialist must be able to perform each essential duty with the highest level of proficiency. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Promotion, or a related field preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as a fitness professional in a corporate or commercial fitness setting
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered

Certifications
The National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) is considered the gold standard for professional fitness certifications in the United States. A professional certification is required to work as a Fitness Specialist & Group Exercise Instructor for Cooper Wellness Strategies The most recognized NCCA-accredited certifications include:
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM)
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE)
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA and CSCS)
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
  • National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF)
  • National Council for Certified Personal Trainers (NCCPT)
  • Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA)
