Job description

Description

The Fitness Specialist will be working at the Wellington HOA community in Flower Mound, Texas, assisting with the day-to-day fitness programs and strategic objectives at the on-site fitness facility. This role supports daily fitness center operations through member engagement, exercise instruction, fitness assessments, program delivery, facility oversight, and excellent customer service. 


The Fitness Specialist may also build a personal training clientele outside regular scheduled hours and compensation is paid separately.


The ideal candidate is passionate about health and wellness, enjoys working with diverse populations, and is committed to helping members achieve their fitness goals while upholding Cooper's mission, values, and service standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts new member orientations.
  • Instructs small group and group fitness classes.
  • Circulates fitness floor and assists members in safe exercise.
  • Conducts personal fitness assessments.
  • Prescribes personal fitness plans.
  • Performs daily facility and equipment maintenance and cleaning processes.
  • Provides front desk coverage as needed.
  • Work with seniors in independent living, skilled nursing, and memory care settings.
  • Demonstrate warmth, patience, and compassion when interacting with older adults.
  • Show genuine care and interest in supporting seniors, including those with disabilities.
  • Bring a creative, energetic, and nurturing personality to the role.
  • Assist in planning and organizing the monthly activity calendar.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the Fitness Specialist must be able to perform each essential duty with the highest level of proficiency. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.


Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
  • Must have at least one year of experience in either a corporate or commercial fitness facility setting.
  • Professional fitness certification (ACSM, ACE, Cooper, NASM, or similar) 
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications (must be obtained within 60 days of hire).
