Job Title: Recon Tech

Job Function: Rebuild/Production

Reports To: Inventory Manager, Store Manager, Rebuild Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt

Summary

The Recon Tech properly disassembles/inspects & reassembles power train components for heavy construction equipment or agricultural equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employee must be able to perform these essential functions of the position satisfactorily and, if requested, reasonable accommodations may be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job, absent undue hardship.

  • Determines which parts make sense to rebuild.
  • Researches OEM price, determines rebuild price, and sources replacement parts while maintaining a suitable margins.
  • Fills out worksheets and purchase orders to track expenses related to rebuild.
  • Communicates with team / advertising when part is available to sell
  • Properly disassembles/reassembles power train components for heavy construction t or agricultural equipment
  • Repairs and reconditions power train items-i.e., Engines, transmissions, axle assemblies, etc.
  • Ability to source replacement parts
  • Evaluates, reworks, repairs or replaces damaged parts as needed.
  • Ability to DYNO test components.
  • Positions and aligns components for assembly manually or using hoists.
  • Tests completed products to verify power train components meet to OEM specifications.
  • Maintains a high level of quality.
  • Always follows safety protocols.
  • Provides parts list needed for each work order to Production Coordinator.
  • Work with Production Coordinator to maintain efficient flow of all work orders in process.
  • Aids in troubleshooting problems with components as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with the requirements of the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System (when required).
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend and kneel on an occasional basis.
  • Prolonged periods of standing.
  • Regular manual dexterity/coordination: hand/eye movements, motor control.
  • Regular visual effort: concentrated reading of documentation or close viewing of computer displays.
  • Able to push, pull and lift up to 50-100lbs. on an occasional basis.

Potential Hazards
  • Employee may be exposed to hazardous substances including a variety of petroleum- based products, cleaning solvents, etc. on a regular basis.
  • Employee may be exposed to sharp (cutting) tools on a regular basis.

Required Education/Experience/Skills
  • High School graduate, or equivalent work experience.
  • Mechanic knowledge, of John Deere, Case IH and other agricultural equipment.
Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
  • 5 years’ experience particularly within the agriculture and construction parts sectors, preferred.
  • Mechanic knowledge, of CAT, Komatsu and other construction equipment.
  • Experience with Wheel Loaders, Excavators, Dozers, and off highway trucks.
  • Ability to operate a Forklift and Crane.
  • Able to understand layout of machine and transmission assembly.
  • Ability to multi task and the use of multiple tools.
  • Ability to navigate / read parts programs efficiently.

Certifications, Licensees or Registrations Required/Preferred

  • Certified Forklift Operator Certificate, helpful.
