Job description

Job Title: Reciprocating Engine Mechanic Location: Red Lake, Texas, United States Type: Contract Contractor Work Model: Onsite – onsite Hours: 40.0 plus System One is seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic / Reciprocating Engine Mechanic with hands-on experience working with Volvo and Caterpillar diesel engines within oil & gas and power generation environments. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining engines and associated equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Reciprocating Engine Mechanic Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair Volvo and Caterpillar diesel and gas engines
  • Perform major overhauls and rebuilds on reciprocating engines (power generation units, emissions systems)
  • Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance programs
  • Inspect and repair fuel, lube oil, cooling, ignition, and air systems
  • Utilize OEM diagnostic software and tools
  • Support field service operations, including remote site work
  • Maintain accurate maintenance and service records
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Assist with commissioning and decommissioning of equipment
  • Collaborate with operations teams to minimize downtime
Reciprocating Engine Mechanic Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification preferred
  • 3–5+ years of heavy-duty or industrial engine experience
  • Proven experience with Volvo and Caterpillar engines
  • Strong knowledge of reciprocating engines in oil & gas or power generation
  • Experience with diagnostics, rebuilds, and troubleshooting
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
