Hospice of the Piedmont is seeking candidates for a full-time Chaplain position to join our Rapidan team servicing counties in and around Warrenton, VA. The Chaplain will provide spiritual support services to patients and families reflective of their desire/belief system and serve as a consultant to the Interdisciplinary Team for spiritual support issues and information.


Responsibilities/General Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Provide direct spiritual support and counsel to patients and families in accordance with their beliefs and desires.
  • Assess spiritual strengths and needs on an ongoing basis.
  • Maintain contact with and provide spiritual support for patient families/caregivers.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Teams, exploring and assessing potential spiritual needs of patients/families.
  • Facilitate and support staff, clergy, and community groups to enhance sensitivity to spiritual concerns of patients/families.
  • Act as a resource to staff, assisting in the development and implementation of training programs.
  • Organize and lead religious services and officiate at special ceremonies and funerals/memorial services as requested.
  • Participate in agency and community programs to enhance learning and performance.
  • Adhere to organizational policies, including confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff, and the organization.
Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Divinity from an accredited seminary or school of theology.
  • Ordination by a religious organization or appropriate certification in hospital/pastoral ministerial counseling preferred.
  • Five years' experience in pastoral care or counseling preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of spiritual issues common during illness, death, and bereavement.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word software and ability to learn NDOC system required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Good organizational skills, strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy office environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to work with and maintain confidentiality of patient data.
  • Must demonstrate basic computer skills.
