Systems Engineer - Information Technology

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Systems Engineer to join our team at an Information Technology Service Provider. As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our clients' network infrastructure. You will collaborate with clients, internal teams, and vendors to ensure reliable and efficient network operations. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in network engineering, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Network Design and Implementation:

• Collaborate with clients to assess their network requirements and design scalable and efficient network solutions.
• Plan, configure, and deploy network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking equipment.
• Implement network protocols, services, and security measures to ensure optimal performance and data protection.
• Conduct network capacity planning and recommend enhancements to support future growth and technology advancements.
• Perform network testing, troubleshooting, and optimization to identify and resolve performance issues.

Network Monitoring and Maintenance:

• Monitor network performance, availability, and security using network monitoring tools.
• Proactively identify and address network vulnerabilities, bottlenecks, and connectivity issues.
• Perform routine network maintenance tasks, including firmware upgrades, patch management, and system backups.
• Ensure network configurations comply with industry best practices and security standards.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to develop and implement network disaster recovery plans.
• Network Security:

• Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and virtual private networks (VPNs).
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate potential risks.
• Develop and enforce network security policies and procedures.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging threats, security technologies, and industry best practices.

Client Support and Collaboration:

• Provide technical support to clients for network-related issues, incidents, and service requests.
• Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and align network solutions accordingly.
• Communicate effectively with clients, both technical and non-technical, to address inquiries, provide updates, and offer recommendations.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including Help Desk and Systems Engineers, to resolve complex network-related issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+) are highly desirable.
• Proven experience as a Network Engineer, preferably in an IT Managed Service Provider environment.
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols, routing, switching, and network security concepts.
• Experience with network hardware, including Cisco, Juniper, or similar vendors.
• Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
• Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and other network technologies.
• Experience with network troubleshooting, packet analysis, and performance optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical individuals.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
