Job Description

How would you like to work on the RailRoad? IT Specialist needed in Staunton, VA. DIRECT HIRE! up to $90k

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Network Administration and Management
  • Assists the Director of Finance & Administration in the managing, planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the radio and signal networks.
  • Oversees the administration of the company's LANs.
  • Implements network security.
  • Provides strategic planning for network improvements and upgrades.
  • Maintains signal and radio comms between field and RTC

Internal IT Support

  • Oversees and provides troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, and disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary.
  • Oversees the administration and maintenance of computer workstations and software.
  • Interacts with staff on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.

Asset Management

  • Assists the Director of Finance & Administration in the purchasing of software, hardware and other IT supplies.
  • Ensures that company assets are maintained responsibly.
  • Builds and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software products.
  • Ensures a timely and complete inventory of all IT related equipment is maintained.
  • Telephony Management
  • Manages and develops upgrades to the company's telephone systems.
  • Manages and develops upgrades to the company's cellular phones.
  • Provides planning and research for changes to the telephone systems.
  • Assists Director of Finance & Accounting in overseeing telephone changes.
  • Manages company cell phone program.
  • Requisitions new/replacement hardware for employees using company phones.
  • Reviews monthly billing statements for accuracy, summarizes cost and usage data in a report, and approves bills for payment.
  • Special Projects
  • Assist Director of Finance & Administration in data collection/analysis/reporting projects as requested by other railroad management.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and out on the railroad. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move objects up to 50 pounds. Will be required to visit work sites and have the ability to walk on ballast, climb on equipment, and ride for long periods of time on rail. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Required Education

  • Prefer Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Information Technology.
