POSITION SUMMARY

This position performs ground restoration and cleanup work at Water Department project/construction sites to restore the sites to as close to preexisting condition as possible. This position must be capable of restoring construction sites, with equipment or hand tools, to as close to preexisting conditions as possible. General tasks include raking, spreading of topsoil, applying grass seed and straw, and restoring decorative rock work. Incumbent also is responsible for repairing street cuts with cold or hot mix asphalt. Incumbent also performs other duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Utilizes rakes, shovels, picks and rock bars to assist in restoring and cleaning up construction sites
• Utilizes a skid steer, backhoe or front-end loader to load spoil, material and to do light grading work
• Drives and operates a single axle dump truck
• Drive a 1-ton pickup with a dump bed
• Tows a trailer with a 1-ton pickup or dump truck
• Uses a hot saw to make repair street cuts
• Operates an asphalt roller to company hot or cold mis asphalt
• Reads, write and comprehends simple instructions, short correspondence and memos

• Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months. Training will be provided.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Certification

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is not regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Greater than 50 pounds may require a team lift. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Specific required movements include the following: trunk-bend, twist, rotate, push, pull, and carry, arm’s reach and leg-lifts. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
