Director of Catering & Conference Services
The DoubleTree by Hilton hotel Burlington Vermont has the largest conference space in the state of Vermont! With over 30,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, we have the ideal space to help create and execute each meeting planners’ vision.
We just completed a $16 million dollar renovation which included our beautiful new conference center, guest room upgrades and the exterior of the hotel.
Director of Catering & Conference Services Summary
We are seeking a talented passionate leader to oversee Catering Sales and Conference Services. This role will provide successful and memorable events to Hilton brand standards, while maximizing profitability, and exceeding each guests’ expectations and experience.
· Achieve budgeted revenues and develop/implement annual department financial goals
· Assist Catering and Sales Managers in generating maximum department profitability
· Responsible for anticipating needs, forecasting results, analyzing, and arranging work processes for personnel in the departments.
· Responsible for Catering budget, forecasting, and understanding of food & beverage costs
· Prospect new business, and rebook repeat business achieving established goals
· Continued ongoing maintenance of the desired level of quality in all meeting room sets
- Receive and fulfill all file turnovers
- Creates and distributes BEO’s in a timely fashion communicating to appropriate departments
- Property liaison for client to ensure success of each program
- Ongoing successful communication between departments
· Effectively interview, hire, train, and supervise Catering and Sales personnel, and hold staff accountable to all policies and procedures of the Hotel
· Collaborates & communicates relevant details to other departments within timely fashion
· Work closely with accounting department to ensure all deposits and final payments are established for each client
· Utilize yield management techniques by effectively negotiating room rates and function space to maximize hotels financial performance
· Organize and maintain well-documented, accurate, & up-to-date client files to serve both clients and hotel in the most efficient way
· Collaborate with Kitchen, and Banquet departments to anticipate all client F&B needs
· Responsible for negotiating and setting A/V pricing between hotel and vendor(s)
· Be on-site for events/functions to ensure total success and guest satisfaction is achieved
Qualification Standards:
Experience:
· 3-5 years of hotel sales experience in catering and conference services or related field
· Previous direct supervisory experience overseeing a sales team
· College degree or equivalent experience
· Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
· Delphi and ONQ experience a plus
· Must be proficient in MS, Excel, and Teams
· Ability to read, analyze and interpret hotel specific reports
