Our rapidly growing company seeks an eager and hard-working professional to join our team as a BAS Application Engineer I to support the engineering, programming and implementation of BAS for multiple clients in the Washington, DC Metro Area.

 

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

 

Position Overview

 

The BAS Application Engineer I is responsible for engineering auditing, design and implementation of BAS strategies across various mechanical and electrical systems to achieve project success. This position will work in a supporting role and may include various functional areas including BAS design, auditing, engineering, programming, checkout and retro-commissioning for renovation, retrofit, new construction and design/build projects.  This position is a customer facing role under the direct supervision of an experienced Senior BAS engineer/manager.

 

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Conducting customer project site visits to audit/investigate existing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building automation systems and documenting existing conditions.
  • Working with project stakeholders (customers, supervisors, programmers, field personnel, other contractors) to gather information relating to any issues and/or changes in functionality and features of various control systems and achieve alignment on objectives, priorities, schedules, risks, features, etc.
  • Developing BAS drawing packages for new projects and compile close out documents including as-built drawings using Microsoft Visio under the supervision of senior BAS engineers.
  • Providing technical guidance throughout development, construction, project commissioning, and operations phases, including proposals, technical reports, cost estimates, and presentations under the supervision of senior BAS engineers.
  • Providing technical support of DDC based hardware and software including creation and/or verification of control and integration point lists under the supervision of senior BAS engineers.
  • Providing graphics engineering functions which include developing, modifying and reviewing BAS graphics as a completed package, for completeness and accuracy, developing and maintaining graphic library under the supervision of senior BAS engineers.
  • Providing BAS software programming functions which include developing, modifying and reviewing BAS programs under the supervision of senior BAS engineers.
  • Supporting quality assurance and commissioning efforts for a variety of direct digital control (DDC) system components and sequences.
  • Identifying any potential problem areas, recommend solutions, and work closely and cooperatively with the client to resolve issues quickly and fairly under the supervision of senior BAS engineers.
  • Attending routine progress meetings with the client, vendors or subcontractor to discuss hardware and software engineering related project updates, concerns, and resolution of issues.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by leadership.

 

Job Qualifications

  • Recent college graduate with Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related technical discipline specific to HVAC, mechanical, electrical and or Building Automation Systems (BAS) is acceptable.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of control theory, Automatic Temperature Controls (ATC), BAS and other building subsystems, PLC Logic.
  • BAS or other programming experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IP-based networks and various BAS communication protocols and systems preferred. Such protocols and systems include Niagara Tridium, BACnet, LonWorks, Modbus.
  • Proficient in working with others to plan, conduct, and report work efforts.
  • Excellent communication, organization and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to be attentive and responsive to client concerns.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task within time and technical constraints.
  • Ability to establish effective collaborative working relationships across different functional areas.
  • Must possess a high level of ownership, enthusiasm, and a collaborative, professional temperament.
  • Must be able to pass a background check, reference check and a drug screening

U.S. Citizenship Required.

Must be able to pass Security screening, background check and ability to qualify for a US Gov’t security clearance is required.
